CHOCOLATE STRAWBERRY HOMEMADE LIP BALM
- .5 ounces dark cocoa butter
- .75 ounces beeswax pastilles
- 1.5 ounces sweet almond oil
- 1 ounce coconut oil
- 5 ML strawberry flavor oil
- 20 lip balm tubes or lip balm pots
- lip balm tray
- washi tape
Set up the lip balm tray with empty tubes and put on a flat surface. I usually place mine on a baking pan lined with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Measure out all your ingredients. I recommend using a digital scale for accuracy.
In a small glass measuring cup, combine cocoa butter, beeswax pellets and sweet almond oil.
Heat in the microwave in 30 second bursts, until the cocoa butter and beeswax are completely melted. Be sure to stir after each turn in the microwave.
Stir in the coconut oil until completely melted.
Add strawberry flavor oil. Stir to combine.
Working quickly, pour melted ingredients into lip balm tubes. Allow to cool and harden before removing the lip balm tubes from the tray.
Cap lip balm tubes and decorate the tubes with red and pink washi tape.
If you prefer, you can use lip balm pots instead of tubes for this recipe.
Because this recipe uses dark cocoa butter, this lip balm will darken your lips slightly. If you prefer a clear homemade lip balm, you can substitute regular cocoa butter for the dark chocolate wafers.
You can also use different carrier oils in place of the coconut oil and sweet almond oil. (Be mindful of nut allergies when using sweet almond oil.)
