It was a dark day for the beauty world when Topshop stopped selling its eponymous make-up line, phasing it out from the beginning of this year with no confirmation that it would ever return. The products weren’t only affordable, they were also brilliant – from the hard-working formulations to the fashion-informed colour palette on offer. Reader, we missed them. But good news is here and this November, the brand is back: reformulated, repackaged and expanded, combining the best elements from the original range with brand new ideas and products. All of the formulations have been adapted to suit all skin types and to last longer than ever based on customer feedback, and are certified as cruelty-free under the Leaping Bunny Program.
Take eyes. Topshop now offers six different eyeshadow finishes – matt, metallic, satin, sparkly, chrome and crayon – as well as numerous eyeliners and brow products, mascara and an eyelid primer. There are an impressive 83 different lip products including balms, liquid lipsticks and glosses, as well as the return of the brand’s sell-out Rio Rio lipstick – the perfect red lip for the price of a cocktail. There are nail polishes, primers, bronzers and blushes, as well as a 10-part range of brushes. The packaging has gone from playful squiggles, dots and stripes to sleek minimal black and metallic, whilst colours range from the classic to the truly unconventional.
Our favourites? The highlighters are second to none, from the iridescent Chameleon Highlighter to the return of the brand’s much-loved Glow Pots, the dropper-applied Glow Liquid Highlighter and the Glow Powder Highlighter. All of them offer blendable, buildable coverage, and flattering colours for every skin tone. Foundation is the area in which the brand could benefit from expanding further yet, with the 12-part shade range perhaps falling short of the extensive offerings now available through the likes of Fenty Beauty, Estée Lauder, Dior and more. But as a first step in the reintroduction of one of our favourite high-street beauty brands, there are a wealth of textures, finishes and formulas across the board. And have we mentioned the prices yet? Everything – yes, everything – is priced from £5 to £16. Welcome back, Topshop Beauty.
Topshop Beauty returns on November 2, available in 40 stores nationwide and online .
